RAD was approached by the Western Virginia Foundation for the Arts to design, fabricate, and install a variety of ambitious aquariums as part of their multimillion dollar renovation of Center in the Square, Roanoke’s cultural and educational hub. The overall project consists of twin 500 gallon freshwater habitat aquariums that display local life native to the nearby Roanoke River, twin cylindrical 300 gallon moon jellyfish aquariums, a 400 gallon mangrove estuary seahorse aquarium, and the centerpiece 6,000 gallon living coral reef aquarium. RAD invested 3 years into this project and the results are stunning. The aquariums serve as the perfect welcoming ambassador to the hundreds of guests who visit Center in the Square, which features several museums and the region’s only live performance theater. The aquariums are supported by a 1,200 square foot aquatic filtration lab that houses all life support, filtration, and research equipment.
This beautiful Miami Modern Style Home had this existing pond at the base of the three story stairwell with windows at the roof that allowed ample natural light. The owners were looking for RAD to renovate the under filtered pond and we decided to place mangrove planted basins within the pond to help naturally filter the beautiful saltwater pond while providing a three dimensional look as the mangroves have grown in over the years.
Freshwater on the bay, yet in the heart of Miami Beach. This 82″ x 28″ x 36″ rare planted Tanganyikan and Peacock Cichlid aquarium brings an East African lake valley into the living room of a South Floridian condo.
The clients builder contacted RAD to help integrate the highest quality 6,000 gallon indoor Koi Pond, with a glass walkway over the pond, as you walk into this beautiful oceanfront home. RAD designed the ponds large filtration room, located in the lower floor, to allow for a robust biological load with many large and beautiful fresh water Koi in the air conditioned space.
As the world’s largest privately held jellyfish aquarium, this project was conceived as the central design feature of an ambitious restaurant concept. The aquarium was not designed to merely provide an aesthetic backdrop to the patron’s experience, but rather be an active draw to the restaurant itself.
Reef Aquaria Design was contacted by a renowned French designer to help bring his vision to life for Steak 954 at the W Hotel in Ft. Lauderdale Beach. Using decades of experience to completely rethink conventional jellyfish aquarium design, we created a new proprietary system that allows these delicate creatures to grow and thrive well beyond their observed lifespan in the wild. The soothing movement and fluidity of the animals creates the perfect ambient backdrop for this chic and stylish location.
Reef Aquaria Design was recommended by the clients friends to design and build a marine aquarium for their new Miami Modern home. RAD suggested that the client see the large jellyfish display at Steak 954 and the decision was made! RAD worked closely with all trades on the project to integrate this beautiful room divider jellyfish aquarium within the main entry living space.
The client’s desired to have a jellyfish aquarium built into their renovated dining room area. RAD worked with their designer to create these beautiful twin custom jellyfish aquariums integrated into gloss millwork cabinetry of the formal dining room space.
When your client has a Super Bowl Party deadline, there’s no room for error. This room dividing jellyfish aquarium is visible from all angles of this home and packed with over 90 aquacultured moon jellyfish. Measuring over 120″ x 14″ x 44″, from any angle it’s clear this 320 gallon jellyfish tank is spectacular.
