The client moved to South Florida during the pandemic and purchased a new oceanfront home in Palm Beach.  He always desired to have a living coral reef aquarium, when he made upgrades to the already beautiful home, and RAD was retained to design the largest aquarium that could fit in the downstairs living space.  After careful consideration, it was decided that RAD could only build such a large 12-foot tank onsite and started to design and draft up plans that required utilizing a professional rigging company that would be charged with bringing the heavy glass panels into the basement via an overhead gantry and crew of skilled workers. Once the glass was carefully delivered downstairs, RAD worked for over four weeks to build the glass tank in front of its final resting place and then proceeded to carefully set the aquarium on its structural stand and then follow through with installing a state of the art life support filtration system under and on both ends of the aquarium that all fit neatly into the tight spaces of the surrounding millwork.  The RAD Team worked closely with the builders, all MEP trades, and custom cabinetry company, to create a truly fabulous and functional 800-gallon reef aquarium on the lower floor of the three-story residence.  The aquarium has now been operating for several years and features many rare fish and aquacultured corals from RAD’s coral aquaculture facility.

The client had visited our large 15-year operating jellyfish aquarium at Steak 954 and desired to have a large sea through jellyfish aquarium designed into a new home that they were building on a waterway in the Fort Lauderdale area.  Rad was retained to create a spectacular 900 gallon 12-foot-long jellyfish aquarium in their new home and worked closely with the design team and builder to integrate all MEP requirements up front of the build to enable a very well-designed jellyfish aquarium to thrive in the entryway of the new residence.  This aquarium is a sea-though design that divides the entry from the main living room and is truly spectacular in this modern style residence

RAD created a stunning 6,000-gallon residential reef aquarium in Atlanta, Georgia, blending cutting-edge engineering with vibrant marine beauty. Over four years, this masterpiece was transported in segments, assembled with precision, and fitted with a seamless acrylic window for crystal-clear views. Housing 250-300 vibrant reef fish, including rare species like Achilles Tangs, and flourishing corals like acroporas and rock anemones, the aquarium replicates a thriving ocean ecosystem.

Advanced systems, including Deltec skimmers, media reactors, and automated feeding, ensure optimal water quality and marine health, while Apex monitoring tracks key parameters. Serviced three times weekly, the aquarium showcases ongoing care with regular maintenance, coral trimming, and system upgrades. Designed as a “window to the sea,” it educates viewers on marine conservation and the delicate balance required to sustain aquatic life, making it one of the most exceptional reef aquariums in North America.

RAD was approached by the Western Virginia Foundation for the Arts to design, fabricate, and install a variety of ambitious aquariums as part of their multimillion dollar renovation of Center in the Square, Roanoke’s cultural and educational hub. The overall project consists of twin 500 gallon freshwater habitat aquariums that display local life native to the nearby Roanoke River, twin cylindrical 300 gallon moon jellyfish aquariums, a 400 gallon mangrove estuary seahorse aquarium, and the centerpiece 6,000 gallon living coral reef aquarium. RAD invested 3 years into this project and the results are stunning. The aquariums serve as the perfect welcoming ambassador to the hundreds of guests who visit Center in the Square, which features several museums and the region’s only live performance theater. The aquariums are supported by a 1,200 square foot aquatic filtration lab that houses all life support, filtration, and research equipment.

This beautiful Miami Modern Style Home had this existing pond at the base of the three story stairwell with windows at the roof that allowed ample natural light.  The owners were looking for RAD to renovate the under filtered pond and we decided to place mangrove planted basins within the pond to help naturally filter the beautiful saltwater pond while providing a three dimensional look as the mangroves have grown in over the years.
